Czech Christmas cookies

Czech Christmas cookies are vanilla-flavored bakery loaded with nuts. This is one of the most popular types of Christmas sweets. Traditional Christmas cookies (cukrovi) should never be missing from the holiday table. You will want to eat everything at once, it is impossible to get enough!

Despite the fact that most people pay attention to gifts, these cookies return us to traditional Christmas values – they are light, simple, inexpensive, without much decoration, but very tasty and tender. We can remind ourselves that this is exactly what we need to make Christmas great!

Ingredients

  • 150 grams white wheat flour
  • 70 grams ground walnuts
  • 100 grams of butter
  • 30 grams of powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 piece chicken yolk
  • vanilla sugar and powdered sugar for sprinkling

How to cook

  • Sift the flour into a deep bowl.
  • Add ground nuts.
  • Add powdered sugar and vanilla sugar, mix well.
  • Add soft butter and yolk last.
  • Knead the dough into a smooth dough and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  • After a couple of hours, take out the dough and fill the bagel molds with it.
  • Bake the cookies in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 9-10 minutes.
  • Let the finished bagels cool, and then roll them in powdered sugar and vanilla sugar.

Cooking notes

If you don’t have a cookie cutter, roll it out with your hands into small sausages about 6-7 cm long.
